Rooted in Nevada: Celebrating Nearly 50 Years of Martin-Harris Construction

Martin-Harris Construction is the result of two apprentice carpenters, Frank Martin, the father of current President Guy Martin and Frank Harris. Harris had worked for Frank Martin on a few jobs. After both became journeymen and mastered their craft, they decided to start their own company in 1976 and founded Martin-Harris Construction.
“Martin-Harris Construction was founded by two men who simply wanted to do it better. Their legacy lives on nearly 50 years later,” said Guy Martin. “We are truly Nevada-rooted. We love our state, we love the families we feed, and we continue to hire amazing people, give them a place to call home every day, and build great projects that showcase their talents.”
The company is a full-service general contractor from preconstruction through commissioning. Clients can visit the site at any point in their project’s journey. Whether it’s design-build, construction manager at risk, or hard-bid general contracting, Martin-Harris Construction offers every conventional delivery method. The company cares for its associates and community by keeping people working on meaningful projects.
“My father was a journeyman carpenter, and his father worked in the oil fields before him. I knew I wanted to be a carpenter, probably from age 10. I started working summers at 13 and have worked in every department in the company over the past 43 years. Today, I’m proud to carry on my father’s legacy and help our associates build their own,” explained Guy Martin.
In 2014, Martin-Harris was acquired by a capital company, and Guy Martin became president in 2016. While Guy Martin does not own the company, he takes the responsibility of leading it with integrity, keeping its values strong and honoring the craft and trade that built it.
One of its most legendary clients was Irwin Molasky, a Southern Nevada development pioneer. He donated the land for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, built the first mall (Boulevard Mall), and shaped Maryland Parkway. Another proud moment was when the Las Vegas City Courthouse was being built while the Goodmans were in office. Molasky was the developer of a legacy project led by two iconic Las Vegas families.
“He saw the grit in my dad and trusted us with projects for years,” added Guy Martin.
What’s unique about Martin-Harris is that most associates were born and raised in Southern Nevada. That’s not common in the construction industry, which is often very transient. The company has built hundreds of schools for the Clark County School District, worked on major health care facilities, including Sunrise Hospital and University Medical Center, and continues to shape the landscape of Southern Nevada.
Next year is Martin-Harris's 50th anniversary — an incredible milestone. Few 50-year-old construction companies are still thriving.
“We’ve reinvested in our facilities, including a major expansion of our office at 3030 S. Highland Road, to ensure our foundation is strong for the next 50 years. We’re proud to continue growing here in Nevada,” said Guy Martin.
